Why Don’t You Follow Up?!

Why Don’t You Follow Up?!

That’s the question I have for three different vendors who are seeking business from me and my family right now. One is an appliance sales and service provider. Another is a backyard playset manufacturer. And the third is an RO water softener company. In all three cases, I have been provided with a quote or initial service call. In all three cases, I am eager and willing to spend money with the vendor. And in all three cases, the vendors are not calling me back.

This lack of follow up is maddening to me. Why? Because our purpose at Infusionsoft is to help small businesses succeed. And the No. 1 way we’ve found to do that is by improving follow up in the sales and marketing process.

When small businesses consistently follow up during the sales and marketing process, their sales soar. When they don’t, their sales struggle and the company is in jeopardy of dying.

Scott and I had a conversation on an airplane seven or eight years ago. We were talking about the fact our software can do so much—the fact that it can automate many parts of a business. As a result, some customers get lost in all the software can do and they lose sight of the basics. I was passionately advocating that if our customers would automate their follow up with new leads and customers, they would double their sales.

Scott pushed back on my assertion. I held my ground. Ever since then, we have watched closely and we’ve found my assertion to be true: if you consistently follow up with new leads and customers, you will dramatically increase your sales. We have thousands of success stories to prove the claim.

And that’s why it drives me crazy that these three vendors won’t follow up with me. Sure, I want the services they offer. But I want these small businesses to succeed. And I know they are unlikely to achieve success if they don’t follow up in the sales process.

Follow up works.

SBS Idea of the Day: Where are you failing to follow up with prospects who are inclined to do business with you? After sending a quote?  After an initial consultation? After they fill out a form on your site? Do yourself a favor and find one place where you’re failing to follow up and fix it. Today.

Infusionsoft takes 2,700 to Pro Bowl

Posted by on Jan 27, 2015 in Blog | 0 comments

Infusionsoft paid for 2,700 of its customers, partners, friends, and kids and their families from Phoenix Children’s Hospital to attend Sunday’s Pro Bowl tailgate party at its Chandler headquarters and then the game itself in Glendale.
It’s the largest block of tickets ever bought by a company for the Pro Bowl, said Greg Head, Infusionsoft’s chief marketing officer.
“We want to help represent Arizona and small business,” said Head, who added company executives also have a suite for the Super Bowl and are taking 16 customers to this Sunday’s game at University of Phoenix Stadium. “Instead of buying an expensive ad for the Super Bowl, we wanted to give back, support the community and put on a big party.”

What’s the value of a Kickstart?

Being Infusionsoft Certified Consultants is very rewarding, because we love to help small businesses succeed — AND most importantly…. our methodology, thoughts and ideas are very much aligned with Infusionsoft as a company along with their 600+ employees.

But, one of the things we hear often as consultants is “Why does it cost so much to get started”. Here is a pretty good insight into that, and I am confident that if given half a chance that we will show you the value of having us consult with you and do the legwork to get you off to the races quickly with fresh processes and ideas that will propel your business.

Meet the CEO Who Took His Teen Son to a $55 Million Funding Meeting

One of the things I love about what I do is that over the years I’ve had the privilege of meeting many fascinating entrepreneurs and startup founders.

I attended the #ICON14 conference in Phoenix earlier this year and had the opportunity to meet the event founder, Clate Mask, CEO of Infusionsoft. What strikes you when you meet Clate is how friendly, gracious and keenly intelligent he is — he’s a genuinely great person to be around.

Gearing up for another great day of teaching small business owners about LifeCycle Marketing!  Yesterday to a group of 15 people, helping them ready themselves for a big business transformation.

Wish me luck, probably a smaller group today but will be great nonetheless.
